I am your child's teacher for both Library/Media and Technology. Kindergarten and First Grade see me once weekly for a class that includes library instruction and story time and very often involves elements of technology. I visit them in their classrooms to do technology integration activities with their teachers and classroom devices. Second, Third, Fourth and Fifth Grade classes receive instruction twice weekly; they come to the library once for an experience that is Library/Media based and once each week I travel to their classrooms or the computer lab for a class that focuses on implementing standards and skills stated in the Massachusetts Digital Literacy and Computer Science Framework and incorporating digital literacy skills into their classroom topics and activities. Students receive grades in two subject areas: Library and Technology. In both areas, they are graded on academic progress and pro-social behavior. They receive a letter grade for their ability to demonstrate understanding of library or technology skills and expectations. A number grade reflects how they cooperate, contribute to their learning environment, and how much support they need to demonstrate the skills we are practicing. Typically, expectations and skills progress and change over the course of the year; each term presents entirely new procedures and experiences in both Library and Technology. Should you have any questions about your child's grades, please feel free to email me at [email protected].
